WoW Forever Beta Guide
Last updated:
The World of Warcraft: Forever beta opened on Thursday, September 17, 2026 and, according to Blizzard, runs through October 21, 2026 (PST). Unlike some past Blizzard betas, access is not handed out through a random opt-in lottery that we could confirm; it comes with specific upgrade editions. This guide explains how to get in, what has been announced for testing, and the full timeline. For the big picture, see the WoW Forever home page.
How to join the WoW Forever beta
According to Blizzard, beta access is included with two of the three upgrade editions:
- Skyborne Epic Pack — includes beta access from September 17.
- Warcraft Forever Collection — includes everything in the Epic Pack, so it also includes beta access.
The cheapest edition, the Skyborne Heroic Pack, does not include beta access, and Blizzard explicitly says Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes do not grant beta access either. Compare editions on our price page.
TODO: verify — whether Blizzard also runs a free beta opt-in / random invite waves (check account settings “Beta Opt-In” and the Blizzard forums).
Once you own a qualifying edition:
- Open the Battle.net app and go to the World of Warcraft tab.
- In the game version dropdown, choose the WoW Forever beta entry. TODO: verify — exact label in the dropdown
- Install and log in. Read the download guide if you hit problems.
What is in the beta?
Blizzard has publicly described the content of Forever as a whole. Which parts are actually playable in the beta at any given time changes from build to build, and we have not been able to confirm a per-build list.
TODO: verify — which zones, level range, classes and dungeons are currently open in the beta (check official beta forum posts / patch notes).
Content Blizzard has announced for World of Warcraft: Forever, which beta testers may see over time:
- New and reimagined zones: Mount Hyjal (including Darkwhisper Gorge), Shen’dralas between Mulgore and Desolace, the Riverglades frontier (over 150 quests in the mid-30s to mid-40s), and Zephras Isle, the Skyborne starting zone for levels 1–12.
- The Skyborne race, playable on both factions. Horde Skyborne can be Shaman; Alliance Skyborne can be Mage; both can be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues and Druids, with new Skyborne druid forms.
- More than a thousand new quests across levels 1–60.
- Nine new dungeons: Hall of Thanes, Ruins of Lordaeron, an excavation above Whelgar’s Excavation, City of Dalaran, Blackmaw Hold, the Drowned City, Krol’dok Stronghold, Alcaz Prison and the Shaper’s Terrace.
- Raids: Hyjal Summit (20-player) and the Barrow Deeps (10-player).
- PvP: the Darkspear Islands, a 15 vs 15 battleground.
- Systems: Legacy progression for leveling and alts, Camping (craftable campfires with shared buffs), opt-in Transmog, HD/SD character models, Classic and modern visual presets, and official gamepad support.

Tips for beta testers
- Report bugs in-game. The point of a beta is feedback; Blizzard reads the bug reporter and the official beta forums.
- Do not get attached to characters. Assume beta progress will be wiped.
- Test your class and settings. Try the gamepad support, the HD/SD model toggle and visual presets so you know your preferred setup on day one.
- Scout your leveling route. Knowing where new quests are can save time at launch.
Is buying into the beta worth it?
With the beta window closing on October 21, the value of beta access shrinks every day. Think about it this way:
- If you want the Epic Pack anyway — for the 30 days of Game Time, extra cosmetics, pets, tabards and three Invite-A-Friend codes — beta access is a bonus on top.
- If you only want to play early, the remaining beta days may not justify the jump from the Heroic Pack to the Epic Pack. Compare editions on the price page.
- If you want to reserve a name, any upgrade (including the Heroic Pack) gives Early Name Reservation from October 27 to November 3.
TODO: verify — edition prices, so the cost difference between Heroic and Epic can be stated.
Beta testing checklist
Use your remaining beta time on things that will help on launch day, not on progress that will be wiped. These are general tips based on how Blizzard betas usually work.
- Try two or three classes to the early levels. Use the quiz on the classes page to shortlist.
- Test the Skyborne start on Zephras Isle if you plan to play the new race.
- Set up your UI and keybinds and note them down; settings may not carry over. TODO: verify — whether beta settings or keybinds transfer to live.
- Try gamepad support if you plan to play with a controller.
- Compare HD and SD models and the Classic and modern visual presets to find what runs best on your PC.
- Check performance in busy areas so you know whether you need to lower settings on launch night.
- File bug reports for anything broken; that is the point of the beta.
Beta troubleshooting
- No beta option in the Battle.net dropdown. Confirm the edition you bought includes beta access (Epic Pack or Collection), that you are logged in to the right account, and restart the Battle.net app.
- Beta not showing after purchase. Entitlements can take a while to appear; log out and back in. If it still does not show, contact Blizzard Support.
- Gift purchases. Blizzard says gift purchases are excluded from Invite-A-Friend codes; check whether gifts carry beta access before buying one for a friend. TODO: verify — beta access on gifted editions.
Missed the beta?
With the beta ending October 21 and launch on November 4, the next opportunity is Early Name Reservation from October 27. Check the release date page for countdowns and follow the news log for any beta extensions or stress tests.
