WoW Forever Price and Editions

Last updated:

The short answer: World of Warcraft: Forever does not require a separate box purchase. Blizzard says access is included with your World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time when the game launches on November 4, 2026. What you can buy are optional upgrade editions with cosmetics, the new Skyborne race, beta access and other perks. This page breaks down what each option gets you. For the general overview, see the WoW Forever home page.

Is WoW Forever free?

No. Blizzard’s fine print reads: “World of Warcraft, including World of Warcraft: Forever, requires World of Warcraft Subscription or Game Time.” If you already pay for WoW to play Retail or Classic, that same subscription should give you access to Forever. TODO: verify — confirm on Blizzard support that one subscription covers Retail, Classic and Forever simultaneously with no extra fee.

The monthly subscription price varies by region and payment plan. TODO: verify — current WoW subscription price per region (US/EU/UK) from the Battle.net Shop.

WoW Forever price: upgrade editions compared

Blizzard offers three optional upgrades on the Battle.net Shop. Each higher tier includes everything in the tier below it.

A Collector’s Edition was also mentioned by Blizzard. TODO: verify — Collector’s Edition contents, price and availability.

Which edition should you buy?

  • Just want to play? You do not need any edition. A subscription or Game Time is enough.
  • Want to play the Skyborne? The Heroic Pack is the cheapest way to unlock the new race and the Zephras Isle starting zone (levels 1–12). Skyborne can join either faction: Horde Skyborne can be Shaman and Alliance Skyborne can be Mage; both can be Warriors, Hunters, Rogues and Druids.
  • Want to try it before launch? Only the Epic Pack and the Collection include the beta, which runs September 17 to October 21, 2026 (PST). Because the beta ends soon, buying the Epic Pack today mostly makes sense if you value the 30 days of Game Time and extra cosmetics as well.
  • Want to bring friends? The Epic Pack and Collection include three Invite-A-Friend codes versus one in the Heroic Pack.
  • Interested in the Warcraft III story? The Collection bundles Warcraft III: Reforged and the new Forsaken Kingdom campaign, which leads directly into the Forever storyline.

How the 30 days of Game Time work

The Epic Pack and Collection add 30 days of Game Time to your account starting November 4. Blizzard notes that play outside that 30-day period requires a subscription or additional Game Time, sold separately. If you already have an active subscription, check how the extra days stack. TODO: verify — whether bundled Game Time extends an existing recurring subscription or pauses it.

Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes

Qualifying purchases include codes that let a friend play during launch week, November 4 through November 11, 2026 (PST), without a subscription or Game Time. Codes are emailed starting October 20, 2026. They do not include beta access and gift purchases are excluded.

How to decide in three questions

  1. Do you already pay for WoW? If yes, Forever is included and the only question is whether you want extras. If no, you need a subscription or Game Time either way, and the 30 days bundled with the Epic Pack or Collection may offset part of the cost.
  2. Do you want to play a Skyborne? The race and its Zephras Isle starting zone are tied to the upgrade editions, so the Heroic Pack is the minimum.
  3. Do you care about Warcraft III? Only the Collection includes Warcraft III: Reforged and the Forsaken Kingdom campaign, and it is limited-time (through January 11, 2027).

What you get without any upgrade

It is worth being clear about what a plain subscription gives you, because the editions are optional. Based on Blizzard’s announcements, a subscriber without an upgrade can play the game at launch on November 4, including the new zones, quests, dungeons and systems that are part of the base game. What they do not get is the Skyborne race (tied to the Heroic Pack and above), Early Name Reservation, beta access, and the edition cosmetics. TODO: verify — whether every new zone and dungeon is available without an upgrade (only the Skyborne race and Zephras Isle are explicitly tied to editions).

Buying tips

  • Buy only from the official Battle.net Shop. Third-party key sellers may not deliver beta access or friend codes correctly.
  • Check your region’s currency and tax. Prices are shown per region. TODO: verify — regional prices
  • Avoid gifting if you want codes. Blizzard says gift purchases are excluded from Invite-A-Friend codes.
  • Mind the dates. Name reservation runs October 27 to November 3, friend codes arrive from October 20, and the beta ends October 21 (all PST).
  • Read the refund policy on the Battle.net Shop before purchasing digital editions. TODO: verify — refund policy for pre-purchased editions.

Bottom line

If you already subscribe to WoW, Forever costs nothing extra. Editions are about cosmetics, the Skyborne race, a head start in the beta and a few friend codes. Check launch timing on the release date page and installation steps on the download page.
